Aaron Walters

Aaron Walters, Percussion
Operations Director

R. Aaron Walters is a Nashville-based composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist. He is also a percussionist and the Operations Director for chatterbird. Since his earlier days of studying classical piano and percussion, he has played drum set & percussion, piano, keyboards & synths, guitar, bass, as well as sung both in the studio and in live settings. He has done so for groups of various genres from folk and jazz, to punk and electronic indie-pop. In the concert music realm Aaron has also played drum set & percussion as a soloist, in various chamber settings, jazz groups, concert bands & orchestras, as well as musical theater pits.

Aaron also has a deep interest in contemporary dance. In that realm, he can apply his multi-instrumentalism and love for improvisation & composition when playing for class and writing commissioned works. He has collaborated with Nashville based groups such as Company Rose, New Dialect, & Nashville Contact Improvisation; played at conferences for the American College Dance Association, Tennessee Association of Dance, & the TN Governor’s School for the Arts; and worked with renown dancers such as David Dorfman, Katherine Duke (Erick Hawkins), Orion Duckstein (Paul Taylor), & Mariah Maloney (Trisha Brown). Aaron was also the staff accompanist for Modern and Ballet at Middle Tennessee State University. When he isn’t performing with Nashville-based experimental synth-pop artist Basic Printer, working on production contracts, teaching composition, Logic Pro, etc., you’ll likely find Aaron exploring his other passion (causing a ruckus) in the kitchen or being the official taste tester for his wife Chloe’s baked goods.
